As General Manager of Prostate Awareness Australia, Marcus has more than 20 years experience in management and leading teams. In his most recent role as Stakeholder Engagement Manager with an industry superannuation fund, his focus was creating and implementing member servicing strategies to workers in the building and construction industry in QLD, SA and the ACT.
“It’s important that all workers are aware of the benefits of early detection. We are committed to men living longer, healthier and happier lives. This can be achieved through raising awareness and promoting the profile of prostate cancer to men and their families. Together we can drive change today to prevent tragedy in the future.”
Vicki’s much loved husband, Ron, passed away from prostate cancer in June 2019. He was 65. Diagnosed at Stage 4, he courageously lived with advanced cancer for four years, taking any opportunity to talk to others about the importance of early detection.
Ron is highly respected within the union movement, in his career as an official and also as a loyal member, and he also served on many boards in his working life. He is greatly missed by Vicki, their eight children and four grandchildren, and all those who knew him.
Vicki is a retired secondary school physical education teacher and a member of the construction industry union. She understands the devastating impact of prostate cancer and is passionate about the health and safety of workers and very keen to encourage prostate awareness….as a legacy to her beloved Ron and his determination to try and make a difference.
We acknowledge and thank our volunteers who have made personal sacrifices to assist in IT management, administration, marketing and promoting, and the organisation of fund raising events. Your work and commitment is greatly appreciated.
